No Fun…

It’s been a very hot couple of weeks here in Oregon.  I’m taking a few minutes this morning while it’s relatively cool to get out this very late blog post, and then hopefully get a podcast and some other writing tasks done.

Happy Pride!!! and a quick note…

Hey there! Happy Pride everyone! I always look forward to this time of year, getting to spend time with other LGBTQIA persons and being able to be ourselves. It’s a feeling like no other, and is never more fully felt than at a Pride event.

Pics/Vids and an update…

We visited House Rock and Falls, Tumalo Falls, and returned to Sahalie and Koosah Falls on our way home. We spent most of our time in the Newberry Caldera area with a walk through the lava tubes and the lava cast forest. We attempted Paulina Falls and the Obsidian flow, but there was just too much snow and we couldn’t get there. Here are a few pictures and videos:

Happy Holidays!

I wanted to wish you all Happy Holidays! I hope they are filled with love, family (in whatever form that takes), friends, good food and good times. This year, as in last year, we all need to see each other, spend time together, and be thankful for the people in our lives and the life that we share.

Halloween fun

There were others on the beach, but they stayed away from us for some reason. Two people with a dog went the opposite direction, and a few others actually ran away. I’m not sure why….we’re not that scary.

Kindness rules!

There are people out there working, doing their jobs to the best of their ability, with staff shortages, shipping delays, product shortages and so much more in the way of providing what we use to take for granted. This is widespread. Practice kindness. Everyone is dealing with the same stresses that you are, only if they work with the public, their stresses include dealing constantly with increasingly crabby and angry people.
Cut everyone a break. It’s time. Kindness can change someone’s whole day, and maybe their whole outlook.

Updates and Fun Stuff

The other thing we did was head to a local casino. I’m not much of a gambler, but it was fun. We wore gloves and double masked while we were there. We wanted to have some fun before things shut down again. At one point I was up $100 bucks, but promptly lost it. My partner managed to win back almost everything we lost and we just about broke even. We had a good time hanging with her sister and brother in law, and it’s something we can all do together, and will do again once it’s a little safer out there.

Outdoor Adventures

On Sunday we took a boat out with a group wearing our masks to do some whale watching. Let’s just say that out of the eight of us half of us didn’t have a very good time. I was fine, didn’t get seasick at all. But others…

Eugene Pride

It was nearly 100 degrees on Saturday, August 14th at Eugene Pride. I think this kept some people away, but all in all, it was a good time and a good turnout.

Absence

There are times when we feel as if she is standing right next to us, or sitting at the table telling us to take off our jacket. I see her hugging her dogs as they climb into her lap, and I see the smile on her face as she held her newest grandchild for the first time.

Hustle and Bustle

This time of year, it can be hard to get everything we need to do done in a day. The added stress, lack of time, and other factors play heavily into our mindset, causing us to feel overwhelmed.

Reconnecting

The blue state vs. the red state thing has to end. We should not be fighting each other. We should be combating a virus to save lives. The virus is neither a democrat or a republican, it’s simply a killer.

Out of the way places

Moon falls is a majestic area with an incredible waterfall and a relatively easy 1 mile trail. Getting to it is the big holdup here, and we had our issues. Although we had been here before, Google maps took us on a different route than previous and we ended up on a maze of confusing and rough logging roads that took us to a spot above the trailhead. Google announced “you have arrived” but in fact, we weren’t there yet.

Unprecedented Times

People, this fire has been burning for far too long. Let’s put this fire out together. Now is the time. Stand up, speak up, do not stay silent any longer. This is not a time to say “me, me, me”, it’s a time to say “what can I do to help?” We need to come together as the human race. We are all human beings, are we not? It’s our right to peacefully protest to inspire change, and we’ve let this go on much too long.

Off the Tracks…

It’s funny how life goes along at a livable pace and then something happens to throw everything off. Often, it doesn’t take much to do that, but sometimes it’s big things that take you off track and you fight like hell to get back on it.
