I’m having one of those days. I’m struggling so much financially that it’s affecting my work today and I need to rant. It’s a one step forward two steps back situation right now. My writing has been going great. I’m getting a lot done, but the economy is killing me. The cost of everything continues to rise and making ends meet gets harder and harder every month.
I know we will survive, but it’s saddens me to know that my son is going to be a junior in high school this year and I feel like I’m letting him down when I can’t afford certain things. We all want the best for our kids, right? I do the best I can with what I earn, but I’m short nearly every month.
I didn’t start writing with the intent of making a ton of money. I do it because I love it. I do it because I have things to say and I’m concerned that if I don’t say them now, I may never get the chance.
I’m also more concerned every day about the state of our country and what the current administration is doing to it. Congress is doing nothing to stop it and are setting him up to be malevolent dictator to us all. I don’t know what they think they are doing, but congress is insane if they think he’s going to allow our democracy to function. They think they are protecting their jobs and their money, but they have a rude awakening coming if they don’t act fast. The president only cares about his money, his power and maybe a few of his family members.He’s not in it to serve the people. He’s in it to become ruler. He’s in it to make money and we’re ALL letting him.
This blog post isn’t what I planned when I started writing it. I probably shouldn’t even post it. Our democracy is in serious trouble. It’s become about hate and discrimination when it should be about love and acceptance. We have a government of me, me, me with the participants looking out mainly for themselves. They no longer work for us. Government exists for the people, by the people. It is not supposed to be self serving. It is not supposed to serve a chosen few. It is supposed to serve all of us, equally.
Okay, I’m done with my rant for now. I’m going to get back to my next book. If you want a hint about what it’s about, comment below and I will tell you more. It’s a story for the times we’re living in now.
