Hiking anywhere in the Pacific Northwest is always a refreshing and renewing experience. It doesn’t matter where we go when we spend time in the trees, its always a rewarding and wonderful time.
This past weekend, we decided to go to the North Falls at Silver Falls. We had been to the “Trail of Ten Falls” before, but always skipped the last two. I’m not sure why, but we had heard that they “weren’t anything special” or that it wasn’t worth the extra couple of miles. I have to say that they were wrong.
The North Falls are beautiful! I can’t believe I passed them by when I was here last. Just goes to show that you need to experience things for yourself. Don’t rely on others to dictate your journey. You might miss something really, really cool!
We will definitely be going back, probably in the fall after some rain. Our treks to waterfalls in the Summer have shown us the truth of climate change. One of the waterfalls on the hike, Winter Falls, was completely dry. It’s been hot and dry this summer, and we didn’t get much rain at all this Spring. I love Oregon. It’s so green. With it being so dry this year, I’m not sure what that’s going to mean for the trees and natural areas we’ve come to know and love.
