I took an unscheduled break from writing a little while back. Life has been increasingly busy, and I injured myself again, putting an end to most of our fun summer plans. Trying to find the time to do the things I love, like hiking, visiting new places, writing, etc has been a source of depression for me, and the injury didn’t help. Even getting housework done has been challenging, and I spent most of this morning finishing up things I hadn’t been physically able to do the last few weeks.
I’m trying to do better, but it’s difficult. I’m healing from my injury, but it will likely be several weeks before I can return to normal, or near normal activity.
It’s been a very hot couple of weeks here in Oregon. I’m taking a few minutes this morning while it’s relatively cool to get out this very late blog post, and then hopefully get a podcast and some other writing tasks done.
My niece and her boyfriend were here visiting a couple of weeks ago, and that was right after my injury.
We spent a few days visiting a couple of waterfalls and they floated the Alsea river along with my partner and family. We went to Depoe bay and walked around a bit, had lunch, and returned home. It was a short visit, but hopefully, they enjoyed their time here in Oregon.

I couldn’t participate in the activities we had planned, but I still had some fun. Seeing my niece that I hadn’t seen in several years was nice. I miss her and her sister and wish we could see each other more often. We’re hoping to visit them next year at some point and I’m looking forward to that.
I’ve gotten to spend some time with my son as well. We live an hour apart and have different work schedules, so it’s difficult. I have weekends off, and he works every Saturday and Sunday. He still needs to get his driver’s license…lol. He’s doing well though and working more during the summer break. He’ll return to both college classes and continue working in the fall. I’m extremely proud of the man he’s become. He likes his job and is finding his interests at college are changing a little.
The other big life change: we adopted two kittens! Their names are Rain and Eclipse. They are a handful, to say the least, and the resident older cat, Nirvana is still making up her mind about them. Pics are below.

I’m working on a couple more episodes of my Kindle Vella story. This one is the sequel to Out from the Under, and it’s called Drifting in the Stillness of the Turmoil. Long title, I know.
If you haven’t read Out from the Under yet, find it here on Kindle Vella: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/story/B09BK631G4
If you are looking for the sequel, it’s here: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/story/B09ZDM7PX1
And don’t forget my Coffee and Emeralds series. There are three books so far, and you can find them on Amazon Kindle, or purchase them directly from me here: https://payhip.com/raemcd
I’m cheaper than Amazon.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog today. I really appreciate it. Hang in there. I will. I’ll be pushing out more stories and episodes soon!
